Thanksgiving

We have a lot to be thankful for, the Grace of God our family friends both new and old. This year we had to chance to spend our first Thanksgiving with John's mom Debbie, Craig, (sister) Christina, and (brother) Zach. The drive was actually quite beautiful and it was nice to get away for a few days. Debbie cooked up a storm, I of coarse did my sweet potatoes. Then after a big meal and a little rest we hit the sales--we shopped till we dropped. It was a fun trip.

This year for my 32nd birthday I got to enjoy and whole weekend of festivities. On Saturday John and the kidos took my shopping so I could pick out my first ever Coach bag and then we went to dinner at Papasito's with John, Christine, Cameron, Cailea, and my friends Jill, Omega, and Karen. We had a great time drank way too many Margaritas and then went to see the new Twilight movie-Breaking Dawn part 1. Then on Sunday my actual birthday John and the kids woke me up with breakfast in bed , french toast and a sparkler. Then I got their homemade cards and a pair of beautiful glasses from none other then Tiffany and Co. We then went to church spent the afternoon together and finished off the day with a home cooked ham and all the trimmings at my friend Jill's house with her husband Mike and their kids. It was a perfect weekend.

Halloween

This year was quite a mild Halloween , the weather was great .We went to the East Hamptons subdivision to trick- or- treat. The kids had a great time and scored a ton of candy. The even had a harvest dance at school where they got to dress up and hang with their friends.

Celebrating Diversity

Cailea came home today with a certificate showing 1st place on a diversity art project she did at school. She not only came in 1st palce in the preschool-grade two division, she won $20 dollars and is progressing on to a district wide competition.

Report Cards

Tonight the family celebrated (at PF Changs) our recent good news -- after attending confrences the kids all got high marks on their report cards. In addition Christine has already met the half mark for the read goal for points and is far ahead the next ranked student. John and I are so proud of them.

Georgia Fall Colors

This weekend we took a drive to Helen, Georgia to see the fall colors and got to Octoberfest. On our way home we stopped at a corn maze, and we even tried boiled peanuts.

New apartment

So we are moving this weekend to a new place. Hopefully we will have more room to spread out and not be so on top of each other. I am not looking forward to packing and unpacking but atleast its not across the country again....its just across the street.

Well 5 games and going strong..... It was a cold but fun night. We are now able to cheer with our newest friends Jill and her husband. They are really fun to hang with and thankfully Jill brought a blanket for a the kidos to cuddle in it when it got a little too chilly. They have a son who is a senior on the team. Next week we'll try to be more prepared.

So now that were down in Georgia, football is a big thing...esp high school foot ball. So since we are trying to network and find our nitch we have been going to support John's bosses' son who attends Walton High School. It has been a great time and they have won every game so far.

First Day of School

The kids finally went back to school after a long and fun summer vacation. Their new school is Brumby Elementary. Christine is in 5th grades all girls class, Cameron is in 4th grade all boys class, and Cailea is in 1st grade with boys and girls. So far they like their teachers. Dropping them off and picking them up is quite an adventure--all the parents the long lines of cars. But overall I think it will be a great year.

The Move

August 11th we were finally able to make it out to Georgia to join John. After several hours of packing and cleaning I could of which I could have never got done without my dear friends Rachel, Lori, Chris, Jim, and Lora. On the 8th we picked up the Penske, packed her up. Monday night was spent with family at Las Palmeras then Tuesday we stated the long drive to Georgia. We made it to Lincoln Nebraska the first night, then on August 10th we made it to Grandma Debbies and Grandpa Craig's in O'Fallon IL. John and I left the kidos there while we went on to drive the remaining 500 miles. We finally arrived at the house at 1o pm. The next two days we unloaded the truck and then Saturday Debbie and Craig drove the kids to joined us. It was a long event but we are finally settled. Thank you to all who were involved in this long process. We could have never done it with out you.

Carl IV and Megan's Wedding

Today we went to Longmont to the Farmette for Megan and Carl's wedding. It was the most interesting wedding I had been too. The ceremony was beautiful and Megan looked gorgeous in her dress. Cousin Justin even had a little muddy fun in the creek.

Christine had the opportunity to go to Tip Top Ranch with some of her fellow Stars (church youth group) including her best friend Hannah. While there they did crafts, and went horse back riding. Christine had a lot of fun.

4th of July

This year was an interesting 4th of July we first took John back to the airport for an early 6am flight so he could meet his brother Zach at 11.(he was coming to stay for a few weeks). After going back to sleep for a few hours we got up went to the town parade then Rachel and her friend Brady joined us for a BBQ at our house and then firework. It was a fun celebration-- wished daddy could have been with us.

This week we celebrated Cameron's 9th birthday. Before Daddy left we went to Elitch's to celebrate then on his actual birthday Cameron invited all his best buds for cake and some games at the house.

May 26th Cailea celebrated her promotion from kindergarten. This year she was lucky enough to spend the year with Mrs. Melton, (a 25 year Veteran teacher) in her last year teaching. During the year she made several friends. two of her best friends were Emmaly and Kylie.

May 14 John graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in Computer Science and History. Debbie flew all the way out from Illinois to join in the celebration. It was great to have so many friends and family come together join in the celebration

This was a great Easter with family. We first dyed eggs at our house then went to GG's and spent the night. Then Easter Sunday with Lala , Papa and GG we went to church at Augustana then joined the Athertons, Ribbing's, and Smiths at IHOP for lunch. Then back to GG's for the hunt.

Spring Break

For Spring break this year John and I decided to surprise the kids and take them to San Diego California. It was a great time, the kids had no idea until the day we left. The weather was nice for the most part. While there we visited Coronado Island, The Zoo, Sea World, La Jolla, Belmont Park, and the Birch Aquarium.

Christine ran her very first race today. She is involved in an after school club called Cats on the Run. She place 9th over all out of 82 4th and 5th graders and second place for all of 4th grade. She ran the entire time with Caliea, Cameron and dad cheering her on. We are both planning on running together in the next race at CSU. I'm so proud of you sweety. My little girl is growing up.

My favorite son turns 8 years old today. We spent the last two weeks on vacation and the very last day we get to celebrate his birthday. He has received a lot of cash so we will probably make a stop at the toy store. He also wants to go go carting at fort fun. It should be a fun day.

Easter was quite an event this year. First we colored Easter Eggs at our house. Then on Easter we went to G.G.'s house and took her to Church at Augustana. After that we went to Whitefence farm and proceeded to wait 3.5 hours to eat. Finally we went back to G.G.'s for the Easter Egg hunt.

This weekend for V day grandma and grandpa Whitney took the kidos for 3 days!!!! ( So John and I could get away for a weekend of couple time. We went to the Ameristar in Blackhawk. So far we've worked out in the amazing cardiocenter, took a dip in the out door hot tube and played a little roulette. On today's agenda I don't know what we will do maybe stay in bed all day, maybe order a little room service..who knows. Can't believe we've been together 10 years!!!! I love you John.

Yesterday was my baby's 5th birthday, how the years have gone by! Friday night Cailea choose to go to Country Buffet for her birthday dinner--she love the ice cream there. Then as a family we went to see tooth fairy. Saturday poor Cailea woke up with an upset tummy and slept most of the day. However Sunday came and she felt much better. We went to Mulberry pool with La-La, Pa-pa, the Smith family and friends Lexi, Lizzy,Madalynn, Aiyana, and Malorie. It was a great weekend. Happy birthday beautiful.

Christmas Eve we went to Denver to celebrate with GG and Grandma La-La and Pa-pa. After opening gifts and having our traditional hamballs we went to Augustana for the 5pm candlelight service. It was a great day, I'm so glad the weather cooperated.

So I have a lot of catching up to do. I have been good about shopping and baking and decorating however I have neglected my blog so here is a summary of the Christmas season. For Thanksgiving we went to G.G.'s. The day after Thanksgiving we decorated the tree. Then December 10th Cameron had a Christmas concert. He sang and played the mini symbols.Then the 18th of December was celebrated with several Christmas parties including Cailea's first performance. Finally Sunday we decorated cookies, made fudge and chocolate covered peanut butter balls to give as Christmas gifts to the neighbors. John is not the picture because he was recovering from a kidney stone.

Musical

Thursday night Christine was in a musical along with the rest of the third and fourth grades at Eyestone. She not only had a speaking part but she played an instrument as well. It was a fun musical celebrating the holidays from Sept -December.

This last week we did a lot of Halloween activities. We carved pumpkins and went trick-r-treating. My mom and Greg and up to watch the kidos so John and I could go out.

Wed and Thurs the kidos didn't have school because of the weather. So we went out and played in the snow.Wellington ended up getting 15 inches of snow. Katie couldn't even go to work because I-25 was closed until late Friday night.

Today we went to the Bartel Farm with the Stikker family to pick out our pumpkins. We went on a hayride and saw some crazy carved pumpkins. It was beautiful weather.

So we have our first case of the piggy flu. John has been sick-bed bound rather with the H1N1. He's doing much better but he does have a way to go to being 100%. As far as the kiddos I will be getting them vaccinated this Friday-- hopefully this will be our only experience this flu season.

Meeting Long lost family

This last week was quite an exciting week. We finally got to meet the rest of John's long lost family. His sister Christina, brother Zach and Craig who is Debbie's fiance. We had a busy week keeping the family busy and showing that what we could of Colorado. We went to Rocky Mountain National Park, Elitches, Water World, Garden of the Gods, Cave of the Winds, and White Fence Farm. It was a great but exhausting week.

Awards Night

To night the kids had their last awards night for youth group for the 08'-09' season. All the kids received several badges for their hard work. Christine and Cameron both sang songs and Christine recited the complete books of the bible both old and new testament ( she was the only one!!!!) . For that she received a black bible with gold leaf bound pages. She graduated from Prims and will be a star next year. We are so proud of our kids for their love of the bible- and continual walk with the Lord. Good job guys. Mommy and Daddy love you.

Today we went to the parade in Wellington then over to Library Park to play on some of the inflatable rides. Most of the rest of the afternoon and evening was spent inside while it poured. Finally the storm broke long enough to let the mosquitos eat us alive while we watched the Wellington fireworks with our good friends the Stikkers. It was a great 4th. God Bless America!

Today was a busy day, I got home from work showered and went to Denver to see our friends from Pittsburgh--Pat, Nikki and their two girls Madison and Lilly. We went to the zoo and then went to see grandma for her 87th birthday. On Tuesday night Grandma and I went to eat dinner at the John Elway restaurant in Cherry Creek and then to see Yanni at the Pepsi center in the front row. It was quite a treat for both of us, grandma really enjoyed her self.

Remodeling

John and I must be crazy. We have been getting more and more frustrated cleaning our carpet so we decided to finally get rid of it (on the main floor anyway) . So off we went this last week . Of coarse we couldn't just put in a new floor we had to paint and put in new base board. We still have a few last little jobs but for the most part it is finished. Here is a pic of working hard.

Both Christine and Cameron have been busy these last few rainy Saturday's playing soccer. Christine's team is a great group of kidos. This last Saturday they won--John coaching of coarse. Cameron even scored two goals for his team.

This was a really great Easter. John, I and the kids went to Denver Saturday to spend time with G.G. , La-la, and Pa-pa, and then Sunday celebrate Easter. Sunday started off great going to church with G.G. to celebrate the rising of our Lord--the trumpets and beautiful voices of the choir. Then off to eat with the rest of the family. Spring Snow

Oh the weather outside it frightful..but wait it's not Christmas..It's MARCH!!!! Spring snow in Colorado has proved dangerous as seen in this picture where two semi's went off the road and ahead was a 30 car pile up. I am scheduled to work tonight but I-25 has closed. They even closed CSU so John is home for the days as well. So I guess we will just sit tight and have a family game night. Hope all are safe and home.

Viva Las Vegas

This last weekend I went with three of my friends from work to Las Vegas. It was a fun trip, The kidos went to grandma Cathy's for the weekend. John joined us half way through the trip. We stayed at the Rio. We also got to meet a lot of interesting people. It was a fun break from the stress--but it's also good to be back.

Youth Group Award Night

Last Wed night the Hannigan kids had youth group award night. All of them received badges for their hard work. Christine surprised us all by reciting John 3:16 on the mic in front of everyone. She is the only child in her class that had that verse memorized. Ms. Charlie her teacher calls Christine her little "hot dog". I'm so proud of them all.

Christine's Pool Party

Christine had her pool party to celebrate her 8th birthday with family and friends at the Mulberry Pool in Fort Collins.

Everyone had fun swimming in the pool then we went up to the party room for cake and presents. All went off with out a hitch except the kids brought down the ceiling, literally. While the kids were playing a piece of ceiling fell. Fortunately nobody was seriously hurt but one of the girls did get a scratch on her face. Overall if was a fun day. Thanks to all who came.

Today is my little Christine's eighth birthday. It seems like yesterday she was born 318 in the am all 5lbs 3ozs of her. It's scary too think that if the next 8 years go this fast she'll be celebrating her sweet 16th birthday!!! Ok lets not think about that, one day at a time. Anyway she woke up, I made french toast then she went to school. I picked her up up for lunch and we met daddy at Applebee's. Then she went back to school to celebrate with her class and share cookies. Then we went to Texas Road House for dinner. She got her first digital Camera from G.G. and clothes and the Imagine Teacher game for her DS from us. So it was quite a day and we're still not done. Sunday were celebrating with her friends and family at the Mulberry Pool.

On Friday Christine and Cameron had their school parties. Then I went to run some errands. When I came home John and the kids had set up a trail of kisses from the front door to the master bedroom with a heart pillow, stuffed bear and a beautiful card and diamond necklace. Today's is Caileas 4th birthday. She was so excited and patiently waiting all week since we had her party last Sunday. Cailea decided for her gift she wanted to pierce her ears, so off to Clair's we went. Then to Applebee's for lunch with daddy and home to ride her new bike. Then she received a beautiful bouquet of flowers from G.G. Finally to end the perfect day she wants to go to Texas Road House for dinner with the family.

Ok so the crazy Hannigan kids had me and John up at 3:00 am to see if Santa had come....he had but we made them go back to bed so we could get atleast another three hours sleep. Then two owls kept us awake hooting outside our window. Needless to say we were up at 730 and ate breakfast and opened gifts. Everyone got what they wanted. We were certainly blessed this Christmas. Later today we are going to the Atherton's for Christmas dinner and then I have to work tonight. Merry Christmas to all....God bless you in the new year.

Visit with Santa

Today we went to visit Santa. I was so proud of Cailea this was the first year she sat on his lap...she didn't even cry. Cailea asked for a Barbie Diamond Castle and a micro phone that she can sing with, Christine asked for an MP3 player and an Nintendo DS, Cameron asked for a rip stick and a Nintendo DS.

Marcy's birthday was a lot of fun. We started out the night going to dinner then to Dave and Busters. The night ended or should I saw got started at Marcy and Zach's house. Some watched a movie and the rest of us played Cranium under the slight influence of Zach's dangerous Margarita's and a couple of shots of patrone. Wow Christmas early

John suprised me earlier this week and gave me the best Christmas present he has been able to pull off in the 8 years we have been together. He bought me a sony alpha camera. He paid for it by selling he X-box (no really he did) and donating plasma. He gave it to me early so I could use it for Christmas. I'm so excited.

Well here is it is the 3rd of December and we finally have a decent snow fall. Unfortunally it didn't come with out ice so several people went off the road in Wellington on Highway 1 and I-25. I was able to rescue a mother and her two babies who had gone off the road by our church and were scared to death. Fortuatly they were ok the mom was a little shaken but thankful that we got them the heck out of there. The car will have to be pulled out the ditch later. Now we can stay home be safe and watch the beautiful snow fall. 22 shopping days till Christmas!!!!

All three kids attend youth group at our church, River of Life. On Wed the 12 they all received their first badges for all the hard work they have done. Each badge is for a bible verse they learned or a good deed they did. I'm so proud of them all.

Nov 4, 2008, America elected it's first black, muslim president into office. Everyone thinks this is the change we needs however I fear it is not. At what point do we draw the line. I want you to think about this when you watch the video I posted to the right. Happy Halloween

The kids had a great Halloween and received a ton of candy.After the sugar rush wore off, John and I settled down to a nice quiet house to watch tv. Now we just need ideas for a super hero costume for John for his ROTC party next week. Let us know

Carving Pumpkins

The Hannigan family had a great time carving pumpkins. Cailea guted and designed her pumpkin almost all by herself. Christine and Cameron had their school party today since they don't have school tomorrow. Cameron is a knight, Christine and Cailea are princesses. They all look great!!

1st Tooth

Cameron lost his first tooth yesterday the 1st of October. He was finishing up Royal Rangers youth group and he wanted to show me how he had teeth coming in behind his baby teeth on the bottom. I went to grab his jaw to look, and the tooth popped out into my hand. Cameron put it under his pillow, and got $2 dollars from the tooth fairy which he put into his savings for a rainy day.

The Farm

Today the Hannigan, Atherton, and Smith family went to the Farm in Fort Collins. It was a fun filled trip complete with goats, sheep, piglets, and the kids even got to ride horses. It was a fun day.

Madelynn's Party

Christine's best friend Madelynn had a birthday party at the Mulberry pool on Sunday. The kids and yes even John had a great time. However there was one minor snag... a baby--well hopefully a baby pooped, yes pooped in the pool so they had to close for 1/2 a hour to retrieve the goods ands clean the pool. But other then that it was fun.

The fall kickoff for Wed night youth group started last Wed with a BBQ and carnival. The kido's had a great time and Cailea and Cameron climbed this wall/slide about 50 times!!!

1st day of school

Cameron and Christine started school Tuesday. Cameron's 1st grade teacher is Mrs. Gallagher, she is really nice but having a baby in a month, therefore she is co-teaching for the time being. Christine's second grade teacher is Mrs. Garlo, who ironically is the mother of her best "boyfriend " Blake. Both are excited to start the new year.

Elitches

Thursday August 7, Christine, Cameron, John and I ventured out to Elitches for some fun. Don't get me wrong we did have fun, but John and I realized how young we aren't anymore. Spinning in circles, in a circle is not a good thing. Anyway, the kidos had fun as you can see them on the Cactus Rollercoster (in the back row).

Thunderbirds Air Show

Today we went to the Cheyenne Frontier Days Thunderbirds show. It was spectacular. I missed getting some of the greatest stunts on video because by the time you saw them there we gone. But if was definitely better then last years show. See the you tube video to the right.

This summer we have been enjoying going to the Fort Collins City Park pool. The kids ave a great time and are getting better and better about being in the water every time we go.

Happy 4th of July. Hope you all had a fun and safe holiday. THe Hannigan family spent the 4th in our home town of Wellington. We went to the Parade in the morning, carnival in the after noon, and by night we went to the Harger's for a BBQ and to watch fireworks.

Today is G.G.'s 86th birthday. She had a wonderful time spending it with family. In the morning she went with Mary, Carl, and Marcy to breakfast and shopping then came home and then the Hannigan Clan brought over an icecream cake from Coldstone. The weather couldn't have been better.Happy Birthday G.G., we love you

Missing Tooth

Christine lost tooth #5 on 6/9/2008. It was the first tooth from the top to go. She got $3 from the tooth fairy and quickly asked me to put it into savings before she spent it.

Cameron's 6th Birthday Party

Cameron's 6th birthday party was a hit. Thank you to all of you who came and also helped out, I couldn't have done it with out you!!! Cameron had a blast splashing in the water with his friends and sister's. He got some great presents--toys, clothes, and yes a basketball and basket ball hoop. It was a great kickoff to the summer. Wow. This year has gone by so fast and yet here we are another school year gone by. This is Cameron at his kindergarten graduation. He sang songs and played the drum. Then he received his final report card and graduation certificate.

I am so proud of my husband. After a long semester of hard work it finally paid off and John received a 4.0 GPA and is on the President's Honor Role. He is well on his way to finishing his associates degree in December then off to CSU for his Bachelor’s in Computer Science. We celebrated by going out to Texas Road House. Included in John's GPA was a 96% on his research paper on The Greenhouse Effect (or lack there of) and a Blackjack game that he designed in C++ which he received a 200/200. Way to go honey, we are all so proud of you!

Our little Christine is growing up so fast. She wrote a story all but herself and illustrated it as well. Then so got up in front of her entire class and their parents and read the story.

Spring has Sprung

Well here we are May 1st and spring is in full effect. The flowers are blooming and John is hard at work getting ready for finals next week. I also start my new job May 5th.

Christine and Cameron are keeping busy with school and Cailea is busy keeping mom and dad entertained.

Poem for Dog Lovers
Hello. I've been expecting you for quite some time. Here, come sit beside us for awhile . and let me tell you about this old friend of mine. She might look tattered or maybe old But I won't say goodbye until you've been told. She had the brightest eyes I had ever seen, And wore a beautiful fur coat that would out shine a queen . She could run like the wind and could catch anything she chased But she protected and sat with me when I had problems to face. You could not find a friend nearly so dear. Because no matter the trouble she always stayed near... She has never asked for much from me; Just to love and respect her and I think you'll agree . To give her a good meal plus a nice warm bed is not much to ask ; When she has given me all her love and to her this was no task. Now I understand you have a schedule to keep. But I have a small favor before she nods off to sleep. Please fold your wings around her and let her feel young while in no pain ; Dear Guardian Angel of Pets , please keep her safe and happy until I see her again. Sadie-sue we will all miss you. Mission ICU

I finally found out today that I got the full-time ICU position

that I applied for. I will be working nights but I think that will allow me to spend more time with the family. Plus it will be a new

and exciting experience.

Easter 2008

Easter was spent at Mary and Carl's house in Longmont. The kids had a great time finding eggs and devouring the candy while the adults watched.
